Most people's idea of baked beans is a can of pork and beans, and believe it or not they never even touch the oven. The keyword in baked beans is "BAKED"! This is real baked beans. This makes a big pan.
.
Slice up the onion, and cook with the bacon. Cook the bacon until it's almost burnt (so that it will maintain it's crunch throughout), then crumble in to small (not too small) pieces.
Pre-heat the oven to 425 degrees. Pour the beans into a large enough baking dish/pan whatever is at your disposal. Add half the box of brown sugar, half the bottle of mustard and half the bottle of barbeque sauce. Add the bacon and onion, mix with a large spoon and taste.
If the sauce tastes too sweet for your liking add some more mustard to tapper the sweetness down, mix and taste. If it's to sour add more brown sugar and barbeque sauce, mix and taste.
Place in oven and bake for at least 45 min - 1 hour at 425 degrees.
Special Notes: When finished the beans will be very hot so be careful...Allow to cool down then serve...Invite some neighbors over, have a cookout!
